Reading Group
About the Group
I host a reading group for abstract algebra meant to be accessible to most people who have taken a basic course in modern/abstract algebra and are eager to learn more. We meet weekly to talk about what we’ve read and to discuss questions and exercises in the book that we are reading.
Current Topic
We are currently reading 'A Course in Universal Algebra' by Burris and Sankappanavar. This book aims to provide an approach to several (but not all) topics in universal algebra such as free algebras, finite automata, stone duality, and model theory.
Contact
If you’d like to join the reading group, feel free to contact me via any means; we are always looking for additional perspectives on the material we read, and your input is welcome! Over the summer we have been meeting over Zoom, but we plan to return to in-person meetings in the fall (but always with an option to join in on Zoom).
